A Jolly Holiday 2011 note to friends

E-mail Print PDF

santa_jef_jakSHi There Ho Ho Ho, a quick look at the calendar reminded me it’s time for the Jolly Holiday letter I know you have been waiting for, you can relax, here it is.

It’s hard to know where to start as in 2011 I was busy as a hound dog in heat, I’ll do my best to keep it short and sweet. Twenty Eleven was a good year in many ways, I didn’t get arrested and no major injuries, success!

I did get a new pair of glasses this year, a stylish pair of bifocals to read all the cheery news out of Wall Street and the Middle East with.  Age does have some blessings though, I have learned that reading the news rarely puts a smile on my face, guess I should have skipped the glasses all together.   There were high points this year with many a sunny Sunday afternoon spent hula-hooping with Heather, throwing the fire-Frisbee or nursing a hangover, so I really can’t complain, it’s been productive.

Unfortunately not every day can be Sunday so work continues to be a major consumer of time as the third year of web-managing for Good Times dawns.  It’s exciting being in the hub of local Arts and Entertainment journalism.  Just as with my well-paid brethren at CNN or FOX I feel the buzz of breaking news and anxiously click my mouse to share it with the masses,… well, I’m not really paid much and it’s not really “breaking” news , but our reporting on dog parades and the bongo player controversy is stimulating. I do have a very nice mouse.

I wish I had some news to report about my book that has been under construction for several years now.  Still writing.  As it turns out creating the ultimate save-the-world self-help volume detailing the physics of karma has turned out to be tougher that I thought, oh well, I’ll give it another year and see. I suggest you pre-order a copy as you are probably in it and may want to be one of the first to see, remember that time when…  2011 did inspire a Night Before Christmas holiday policy poem that I hope you’ll enjoy and comment on at PolicyPillars.com.  If so inclined Liking the Personal Policy Facebook page is encouraged.

Last but a good distance from least is my invitation to you to come visit in 2012.  I should be done remodeling the beach bungalow by Spring. Well, it’s not quite on the beach, and it’s not a bungalow, but it is a very nice trailer walking distance to Safeway so come visit for a good time.  In September I plan to take out a high-interest loan and throw myself a 50th birthday party so there’s another reason to come enjoy the California coast, hopefully before another earthquake or the tsunami debris hits.

Reflecting on this past solar cycle reminds me how important the people from our past are in defining our future.  Since I have your email address we must be close and that warms the virtual heart of my iPhone. I sincerely hope all is well and right for you and yours as I wish you a most excellent Christmas and New Year, 2012 should be calm and relaxing.  So raise a beer and share some cheer knowing that to me you are dear. Jeffrey
