I’m not a flake

E-mail Print PDF

Flaky people are hard to keep as friends or associates.  Even the best intentioned individuals can quickly become labeled a flake by failing to do what they say. Flaky people have not learned how to manage the impulse to always say yes then flake out when the time comes to follow through.  There is one simple word that will guard you from becoming labeled as flaky, no.  One of the most powerful words in any language is no. Sometimes it’s hard to say because at our nature we are pleasers trying to win approval from others.  Be aware of this next time someone asks you to do something realizing that a yes implies actually doing something in the future.  The I’m not a flake policy is essential for anyone wanting to be viewed as a responsible person.
